Funding and Resources for Montgomery County Townships
This week’s update highlights several grant opportunities and resources available to Montgomery County townships.
Energy Efficiency and Retrofitting Programs
The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has announced new programs to support municipal efforts in retrofitting buildings and improving energy efficiency. Multiple Grant Programs with June Deadlines
The DEP is accepting applications for several grant programs with deadlines approaching on June 21st, 2024. These programs include:
- Environmental Infrastructure Investment Program (EIIP)
- Growing Greener Grant Program
- Municipal Waste Planning, Recycling, and Waste Reduction Act Grants

Automated Red Light Enforcement (ARLE) Grant Funding
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is accepting applications for Automated Red Light Enforcement (ARLE) grants until June 30th, 2024. These grants can help municipalities cover the costs associated with implementing or enhancing ARLE programs. PennDOT Survey on Municipal Seal Coating (Deadline June 9th!)
Today is the deadline for townships to participate in a PennDOT survey regarding their experiences with seal coating projects. New Distracted Driving Law and Traffic Stop Data Collection
A new Pennsylvania law strengthens distracted driving regulations and requires law enforcement agencies to collect demographic data during traffic stops. Townships should be aware of these changes and ensure their police departments have the necessary resources to comply.
